The Löfberg Family Foundation supports young talents in East Africa
The Löfberg Family Foundation initiates a multiannual collaboration with the Help to Help foundation. The support makes it possible for young people in Tanzania and Uganda, who otherwise would not have had the opportunity to carry out higher education, to qualify for vital societal professions like agronomists, economists, engineers, or doctors.
“Help to Help carries on important work, fully in line with our values. We have been working with sustainability matters for more than a hundred years, and we want to keep contributing to a sustainable development. We are looking forward to a long-term collaboration with Help to Help, a foundation that we share many interests and values with,” says Therese Gustafsson, coffee roaster in the fourth generation and chair of The Löfberg Family Foundation.
Help to Help funds higher education for young talents, which results in a long-term positive change for individuals, families, and communities. Help to Help has made academic education possible for more than 850 students at universities in Tanzania and Uganda since 2010.
“We are driven by a passion to create opportunities for young people in East Africa. The support from The Löfberg Family Foundation is an acknowledgement that we are doing something good, and it means that we can offer education to more young talents and realise their dreams. We are making people as well as countries stronger, in a long-term and sustainable way,” says Jenni Ginström, acting CEO of Help to Help.
Promotes sustainable development
In 2014, the Löfberg family strengthened its sustainability commitment by establishing a private foundation that benefits sustainable development in coffee producing countries through development projects, research, education, and scholarships.
The work is in line with the family’s vision to create good moments for coming generations, and is a complement to the efforts made through the coffee roaster Löfbergs, which amongst others is involved in International Coffee Partners and coffee&climate.
“We believe in the power of doing things together, which is why collaborations with Help to Help and other players are important to secure and scale up positive effects. It works well as we can see in South America and Africa, where we have been active during the foundation’s first ten years,” says Therese Gustafsson.
