Press release -
Only eco-labelled and Fairtrade certified coffee for SSP
SPP is expanding its social commitment and will serve eco-labelled and Fairtrade certified fine-grind coffee in all its units. The coffee is delivered by their partner for many years, Löfbergs Lila.
- It becomes more important to feel that we affect the possibilities for a sustainable development in a positive way. Choosing eco-labelled and Fairtrade certified coffee is a simple way for us and our customers to make a difference, says Lars Edengréen, CEO at SSP Sweden.
- This strengthens our opinion that the demand for certified coffee is increasing. As a part of our sustainability work, all coffee that we sell will be certified within five years, says Leif Sjöblom, marketing manager at Löfbergs Lila.
At Fairtrade Sweden, they are glad about this progress.
- The sales of Fairtrade certified coffee has so far contributed to approximately half a million coffee farmers and their families being able to improve their standards of working as well as living. When large participants like Löfbergs Lila, SSP and their customers choose Fairtrade certified coffee, we can make sure that they become even more and that the coffee farmers can improve their situation even further, says Helena Markstedt, secretary general at Fairtrade Sweden.
