Press release -
Löfbergs Lila in Almedalen
More and more companies are in Visby, Sweden for the Almedalen Week. One of these is Löfbergs Lila. This year, the family-owned coffee roaster arranges its own seminar for the first time. The company will also participate in several other items on the programme.
- The Almedalen Week gathers many important decision-makers, both within politics and business. That is why it is great for us to be there to raise as well as discuss the questions regarding sustainability and other matters that are important to us, says Lars Appelqvist, CEO at Löfbergs Lila.
Renowned panel
Is it a better world due to KRAV, Fairtrade and other certifications? That is the question that Löfbergs Lila is asking on its breakfast seminar on July 5. The panel consists of Birgitta Ohlsson, Minister of EU-affairs; Mikael Karlsson, Chairman of The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation; Lydiah Wålsten from the think tank Timbro and Kathrine Löfberg, Director of Communications at Löfbergs Lila.
- It is great that we have managed to get such a renowned panel together. We hope and believe that it will contribute to an open and lively discussion about an issue that we are passionate about, says Lars Appelqvist.
Lars Appelqvist and Kathrine Löfberg are also invited to be panel members on several other seminars, for example ones arranged by CSR Sweden and the Haga Initiative.
During the entire week, Löfbergs Lila's very own food truck, Lila Hy, will be in Visby as well. Here, Löfbergs Lila offers free coffee and answers questions about its sustainability work where one important goal is that all coffee that the company sells will be certified within five years. Every day at three o'clock, the Haga Initiative, a company network that works with highlighting the climate issue, will come to the food truck to interview one of the CEOs of their member companies.
Sweden's biggest political meeting place
The Almedalen Week has been arranged on the Swedish island Gotland for more than 40 years. The political speeches of the early years have developed into Sweden’s biggest political meeting place. The openness and the availability during the Almedalen Week are unique for Sweden as well as for the rest of the world. All arrangements during this week are free of charge and open for everyone.
In 2011, the Almedalen Week attracted 14.000 visitors that could pick and choose from 1.476 items on the programme. 18 percent of the events were arranged by companies.
