Press release -
Löfbergs can win global food innovation award
The coffee roaster Löfberg´s ready to drink concept ICE and their plant based Nespresso® compatible capsules have been selected to be a part of the SIAL Innovation Selection 2016 - the world's largest food innovation exhibition.
The family-owned coffee roaster has a history of being constantly curious and open to new trends. In the last few years the company has worked even more purposefully with developing innovative products to meet the changing consumer needs, with sustainability and the best taste as constant driving forces.
- Our plant-based capsules for the Nespresso® system is a great example of how we work with innovation. We start out with a consumer trend and see what we can do to meet this trend with a really good product that is as sustainable as possible. Our plant-based capsules, which contains high quality, certified coffee and that is bio-compostable, is one of those innovations that we are especially proud of, says Gabriella Gille, Brands & Product Development Director at Löfbergs.
New consumption patterns of coffee gain ground
So called ready to drink products are rapidly growing, not least in Northern Europe where we to a greater extent purchase prepared coffee products that we drink on the go. Like in other categories, health and sustainability are of bigger importance for the consumers. Löfbergs´s ICE products are based on natural ingredients, and the coffee is organic and Fairtrade labelled. The package is Cartocan ®, which is recyclable.
- It is great that our new products and our Swedish heritage have drawn such attention internationally, which also has led to a great number of export inquiries for ICE as well as our plant-based capsules, says Gabriella Gille at Löfbergs.
