Press release -
Hot coffee competition coming to Karlstad
The Barista Cup - or the Swedish espresso championships - is coming to Karlstad. On Februay 14, Löfbergs Lila and its café Rosteriet are hosting one of four events in the prestigious championships. It is the first time that the competition is held in the sunny town.
- It is very fun and it strengthens Karlstad as a coffee town. It is also a great opportunity for all Värmlanders to see and taste the art of coffee on a really high level, says Leif Sjöblom, marketing manager at Löfbergs Lila.
A spot in the world championships is at stake
Each competitor will prepare one espresso, one cappuccino and one signature drink (an espresso-based beverage without alcohol). The competitors are being judged on four criteria: the taste and look of the drink as well as the technique and artistry of the barista.
During February and March, four events will be arranged in Sweden. The best baristas will proceed to the finale which will be arranged in Stockholm. The winner will represent Sweden in the World Barista Championship that takes place in Vienna on June 13-15.
