Press release -
First with 100 % aluminium free coffee capsules
Shortly, Löfbergs Lila will be first in Sweden with Fairtrade certified coffee capsules. This as a part of the company's investment in sustainability, where one goal is that all coffee that Löfbergs Lila sells will be certified within five years.
- To convert to 100 per cent certified coffee in five years is a tough goal. For us, it is about taking responsibility and that the consumer should always feel safe with the fact that Löfbergs Lila is a better coffee - in both respects. Now, it will be even clearer for our capsule assortment, says Lars Appelqvist, CEO at Löfbergs Lila.
Affect others
As a start, Löfbergs Lila launches two Fairtrade certified coffee capsules, one espresso and one fine-grind coffee. Bright Green is a modern espresso that balances an intense sweetness with flowery acidity, while White Rainbow is a classic and full fine-grind coffee with a light acidity and sweetness.
Fairtrade is a product labelling that guarantees that the producers are getting adequately paid for their work and that the coffee is produced in an ethically and socially accepted way.
At the same time, Löfbergs Lila will be the first on of the larger operators to switch over to completely aluminium free capsules. In 1992/1992, the company was also first with removing aluminium from the regular coffee packaging, which up to now has saved more than 1.000 metric tonnes aluminium.
- We have contributed to that one of the largest capsule producers in the world has started working with aluminium free capsules. This shows that our sustainability work will achieve results far beyond the Swedish borders, Lars Appelqvist says.
Estimating to triple the sales
The capsules from Löfbergs Lila are used in the capsule brewer C3 from Italian Caffitaly. In Sweden, there are soon 40.000 machines from Caffitaly.
- The demand for capsules is steadily growing, probably because it is quick, easy and the coffee tastes good. We are estimating to triple our sales next year. As the interest is increasing, we are expanding our assortment at the same time as we now enter the food retailing widely, says Lars Appelqvist.
