International Coffee Partners: 25 Years of Supporting Coffee Farming Families
International Coffee Partners (ICP) celebrates 25 years of working to strengthen smallholder coffee farmers’ ability to build secure and sustainable livelihoods. Löfbergs, as a co-founder and committed partner, has been involved from the very beginning, contributing to sustainable development across the coffee sector.
ICP was founded during the coffee crisis in 2001, bringing together several European family-owned coffee roasters. The goal was simple yet ambitious: to understand farmers’ everyday realities, support their communities, and strengthen the coffee sector together.
The engagement in ICP reflects our family values: long-term commitment, responsibility, and care for the people behind every cup of coffee.
Over 25 years, ICP has reached more than 125,700 farming families in 13 countries. The projects go beyond coffee – strengthening livelihoods, improving the ability to cope with climate change, promoting youth engagement and gender equality, and supporting stronger farmer organisations. Farmers develop new cultivation methods, diversify their income sources, and gain better access to markets – all to create long-term value for both families and local communities.
Inclusive training enables women and young farmers to become agents of change. In 2025, 45% of participants were women and 22% were aged 18–35. Local partnerships in for example Brazil, Ethiopia, Honduras, Indonesia, Tanzania, and Uganda have ensured that efforts are both sustainable and adapted to local needs.
ICP is more than a project – it is a long-term partnership that shows how shared commitment can transform communities. This 25th anniversary reminds us that when we invest in people, we create a fairer and more resilient coffee sector for all.
